HLN’s Noam Arzt attended the AIRA 2021 National Meeting held on August 3-5 in Portland, Oregon. Around 175 individuals attended in person supplemented by nearly 200 remote attendees. Throughout the three-day event, AIRA provided interesting speakers, and engaging panels on a variety of topics.
Noam Arzt presented two breakout sessions at the conference.
- IIS Consumer Access Strategies in the Age of COVID: A validated proof of up-to-date vaccination status for COVID-19 and other vaccine-preventable diseases would be useful for travel, work/school attendance, and large venue events. The likelihood of the need for COVID-19 annual boosters only increases the potential need for ongoing record keeping and proof of vaccination for some time into the future. This presentation discussed the emerging topic of vaccine credentials, including its history, status, and role in Immunization Information Systems (IIS).
- Vaccine Provider Agreement system (VPAS): In order to participate in the COVID-19 Program, providers must complete and sign the CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Provider Agreement. The signed agreement must be electronically uploaded to the CDC’s Immunization Data Lake (IZDL). The Vaccine Provider Agreement System (VPAS) was developed to meet that need. This presentation discussed VPAS, an open source application deployed by HLN currently for two IIS on the Google Cloud Platform.
