HLN Participates in HIMSS23
HIMSS23, held in Chicago April 17-21, 2023, was attended by more than 35,000 from around the world. Similar to past years, it centered around a trade show exhibit hall, interoperability showcases and educational sessions. ASTHO Releases Two New Reports on IIS
In March 2023 the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers (ASTHO) released two environmental scans related to public health data and systems funded by a grant from ONC.
1. Immunization Information Systems and Health Information Exchanges: An Environmental Scan of Factors Influencing Data Sharing and Opportunities to Advance Population Health
2. Legal Landscape of Public Health Data: A Scan of State Laws Governing Public Health Data Reporting, Surveillance, and Sharing

Two New Federal Reports Released
Two new Federal reports were recently released that have a public health impact.
1. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released its 2022 Report to Congress: Update on Access, Exchange, and Use of Electronic Health Information.
2. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released this month its Public Health Data Strategy: Public Health Data Goals and 2-Year Milestones.

Data Linkage and Identity Management – Privacy Protecting Record Linkage (PPRL)
In October 2022 the CDC Foundation convened a set of stakeholders to discuss Privacy Protecting Record Linkage (PPRL). HLN was asked to prepare a summary of this stakeholder session for reference by public agencies considering using PPRL in their systems.
